P1045 — 3-Hole Z-Shape Offset Fitting
A steel plate bent twice in opposite directions so a channel run steps sideways by the published 1-1/16 in. and 2-1/8 in. offsets instead of running straight, with three 9/16 in. bolt holes.

Dimensions above are the catalog specification for the reference part; the steel line is our supply. Steel grade is confirmed at quotation.
P1045-EG — electro-galvanized, zinc plating to ASTM B633 Type III SC1. Smooth bright silver. Indoor and dry service. P1045-HG — hot-dip galvanized to ASTM A123 or A153. Visible spangle, heavier edge build-up. Outdoor, wet and coastal service. P1045-PL — plain, uncoated steel. For painting or powder coating after assembly, or dry enclosed runs. Stainless — the catalog offers stainless, aluminum and fiberglass on some part numbers but publishes no standard suffix for them and says to consult the factory. Quote as made-to-order. Powder-coated — powder coating to a customer-specified RAL color. Not a catalog finish, so it carries no catalog code — the color, which parts take it and the film build are confirmed at quotation. We publish no film thickness and no salt-spray figure, because we have not measured one.
Finish list: Unistrut® General Engineering Catalog no. 17, p. 85 — finishes note. Powder coating is our option, not a catalog finish. The catalog also lists GR against this series — not quoted, see Finishes.
Pack: Packed per order. Nuts and bolts are not supplied with the fitting and must be ordered separately — three of each per fitting.

| Overall length | not published | Not dimensioned on p. 102. The drawing gives the two offsets and the width and stops there; we do not add the offsets and the end distances together to produce a length. |
| How the three holes are distributed | not published | The drawing shows three holes and the page note gives their size and spacing, but p. 102 does not fix which face each hole falls in. Ask the supplier for the drawing of the part they will ship if the distribution matters to your connection. |
| Bend radius | not published | Not dimensioned anywhere on p. 102. |
The two offsets are printed on the P1045 drawing itself. The hole diameter, end distance, on-center spacing and thickness come from the p. 102 header note, Standard Dimensions for 1-5/8 in. width series channel fittings (Unless Otherwise Shown on Drawing) — the P1045 drawing shows no override, so the note governs.
What bolts through it, and where the published data stops.
Hardware. Three 9/16 in. holes take three 1/2 x 15/16 in. hex head cap screws and three 1/2 in. channel nuts — P1010, P4010 or P5510 depending on the channel depth. Nuts and bolts are ordered separately.
What the offset is for. A Z fitting exists because two runs have to be in line but not in the same plane: a run passing a column flange, a duct, or a second run crossing beneath. The two published offsets are fixed dimensions, not an adjustment range, so the part number is chosen by measuring the step you actually have.
Load rating. The catalog publishes no load figure for P1045, so neither do we. Where the catalog does give design load data for a fitting it states that the data is based on the ultimate strength of the connection with a safety factor of 2.5; no such figure appears on p. 102 for this part. Do not infer one from the plate thickness or from a neighbouring part number.

A published cross-reference number is one thing only: a number a cited document prints opposite this one, as a candidate substitute in the same catalog slot. It carries no load rating, steel grade, coating thickness or third-party listing — each manufacturer publishes those separately and they do not travel with a part number. Source documents, access dates and what to measure before you fit a substitute: Unistrut P1045 cross reference.

What a P1045 actually is
P1045 is the plain Z of the 1-5/8 in. fitting line. One piece of steel plate, two bends in opposite directions, three bolt holes. The result is a short middle web with a flange at each end pointing opposite ways, so the two things it bolts to end up parallel but offset from each other by the amount built into the bends.
Every Z fitting in the catalog is the same idea with different numbers in the bends, which is exactly why the offsets are the first two lines of the specification table on this page and the last thing a substitute gets right. The width is the standard 1-5/8 in. of the series, so the fitting sits inside the footprint of the channel face and never overhangs the run.
Choosing a Z fitting
Measure the step, then pick the part number. That sounds obvious and it is the step people skip, because a Z fitting looks adjustable and is not. The published offsets for P1045 are 1-1/16 in. and 2-1/8 in.; the p. 102 page carries several other part numbers in the angular and Z group with different geometry, including P1347 and, in the splice group, P1453 and P1454.
Where the step is not one of the published ones, the honest answers are a different fitting family or a fabricated plate, not a Z fitting forced into place. Pulling a Z fitting to close a gap puts a bending load into both bolts and takes the fitting out of the flat face of the channel, which is where a channel nut needs it to be.
One more thing to settle before ordering: which way round the offset runs. A Z is not symmetrical about its own center in use even though the shape looks like it is — the run steps one way, and if the drawing is handed, mark which face goes against the channel.
Checking an incoming shipment
Three measurements, in this order.
1. Measure both offsets: 1-1/16 in. (27.0 mm) and 2-1/8 in. (54.0 mm). Lay the fitting on a flat surface on one flange and measure to the underside of the other with a depth gauge or a rule against a square. These are the two numbers the part exists for, and a substitute copied from a photograph will be close and not right.
2. Caliper the plate thickness away from a bend and compare it with the base-steel thickness on your quotation. Measure on a free edge, not across a formed corner. Our standard plate is about 0.23 in. (5.8 mm) base steel before coating; a hot-dip galvanized part measures thicker. The catalog reference part is 1/4 in. (6.4 mm). Compare the base-steel thickness on your quotation; measure a galvanized part knowing the coating adds to it. A 3/16 in. (4.8 mm) plate looks the same in a bin — that is the one to reject.
3. Check the hole diameter and the end distance: 9/16 in. (14.3 mm) holes, 13/16 in. (20.6 mm) from the free end of a flange to the center of that flange's hole. The end distance is what decides whether a channel nut in the slot lines up with the hole. If it is materially off, the punch pattern is not the 1-5/8 in. series pattern.
Then count: three holes, no more and no fewer, before it goes into stock.

What we can quote against this part number
We do not manufacture these parts and we are not Unistrut. We source them. The item we can quote against Unistrut P1045 is Z-shape fitting, 1-1/16 x 2-1/8 in. offset, 3 holes — a candidate substitute made to order by a contract manufacturer, offered for inquiry, not an original-manufacturer part.

| Thickness | About 0.23 in. (5.8 mm) base steel before coating; a hot-dip galvanized part measures thicker. Steel grade confirmed at quotation. | Our supply specification — not a catalog figure |
These are the published Unistrut catalog dimensions we build to, each with the page it is printed on. The thickness row is the exception: it states what we supply, not a catalog figure. They are geometry only. No load, torque or listing figure is claimed for our part: none has been tested on it, and a figure published for a Unistrut part is evidence about that part, not about ours.
