Dimensions above are the catalog specification for the reference part; the steel line is our supply. Steel grade is confirmed at quotation.
P2225-EG — electro-galvanized, zinc plating to ASTM B633 Type III SC1. Smooth bright silver. Indoor and dry service. P2225-HG — hot-dip galvanized to ASTM A123 or A153. Visible spangle, heavier edge build-up. Outdoor, wet and coastal service. P2225-PL — plain, uncoated steel. For painting or powder coating after assembly, or dry enclosed runs. Stainless — the catalog offers stainless, aluminum and fiberglass on some part numbers but publishes no standard suffix for them and says to consult the factory. Quote as made-to-order. Powder-coated — powder coating to a customer-specified RAL color. Not a catalog finish, so it carries no catalog code — the color, which parts take it and the film build are confirmed at quotation. We publish no film thickness and no salt-spray figure, because we have not measured one.
Finish list: Unistrut® General Engineering Catalog no. 17, p. 85 — finishes note. Powder coating is our option, not a catalog finish. The catalog also lists GR against this series — not quoted, see Finishes.
Pack: Packed per order. Up to nine cap screws and nine channel nuts per fitting, ordered separately — you rarely use all nine.

| Hole layout within each face | not published | The catalog gives the count and the group split — three in the top, six in the face — and the series hole spacing. P. 110 does not fix the full grid, so no per-hole coordinate is published. |
| How the wing is joined to the body | not published | P. 110 groups these under Wing Shape Fittings and prints a pictorial view; it does not specify a weld or a bend, so neither is stated here. |
| Bend or fillet radii | not published | Not dimensioned on p. 110. |
The overall size is printed on the P2225 drawing; the hole count comes from the p. 110 part data, and the hole size, spacing, end distance and thickness from the p. 110 header note. The header note applies because the P2225 drawing publishes no override.
The two wings on the same page
P2224 and P2225 are the same 3-7/8 in. body with different wings and different hole counts. The wing dimension is what tells them apart in a bin.
| Part | Wing x body | Holes |
|---|---|---|
| P2224 | 1-7/8 x 3-7/8 in. (47.6 x 98.4) | 6 (2 top + 4 face) |
| P2225 | 3-3/4 x 3-7/8 in. (95.3 x 98.4) | 9 (3 top + 6 face) |

What bolts through it, and where the published data stops.
Hardware. Each 9/16 in. hole takes a 1/2 x 15/16 in. hex head cap screw and a 1/2 in. channel nut — P1010, P4010 or P5510 by channel depth. You will not use all nine holes on most connections; use the ones that land on the channel and leave the rest.
Why so many holes. A wing fitting is bought for stiffness at the corner rather than reach. Bolting three holes in a face instead of one stops the joint rotating about a single bolt, which is the failure mode that a plain two-hole angle cannot address at all. That is what the extra plate and the extra weight are for.
Load rating. The catalog publishes no load figure for P2225, so neither do we. Where it does give design load data for a fitting, that data is stated to be based on the ultimate strength of the connection with a safety factor of 2.5; no such figure appears on p. 110 for this part. A heavier fitting is not a rated one.
What the published cross-reference tables print opposite P2225.
| Brand | Published cross-reference part number |
|---|---|
| B-Line | B121 [S1][S3][S4] |
| Superstrut | A217 [S1][S3] |
| Power-Strut | PS 667 [S1][S3] |
| Haydon | A-326-1 [S3] |
A published cross-reference number is one thing only: a number a cited document prints opposite this one, as a candidate substitute in the same catalog slot. It carries no load rating, steel grade, coating thickness or third-party listing — each manufacturer publishes those separately and they do not travel with a part number. What a P2225 actually is
P2225 is one of the two wing fittings on catalog p. 110: a body about 3-7/8 in. deep carrying an upright wing 3-3/4 in. across, drilled with nine holes on the standard 9/16 in. series pattern — three in the top surface and six in the face. It is one of the heaviest connecting fittings in the 1-5/8 in. line.
The word to hold on to is wing. A plain angle is a single plate bent once, and every bolt in it is a hinge. A wing fitting presents a broad face with several holes in it, so a channel bolted to that face is held in rotation as well as position. The nine holes are not there to be used all at once; they are there so that whichever way the connection falls, three of them land where the channel is.
Choosing between P2224 and P2225
The catalog prints the two side by side and they are easy to confuse in a description, because both are “wing fittings, 3-7/8 in.”. P2224 has a 1-7/8 in. wing and six holes. P2225 has a 3-3/4 in. wing — double — and nine. The bigger wing gives a longer lever between the outer bolts, so it resists twisting better; the smaller one fits where there is no room for the larger, and costs less steel.
Order by wing dimension, and put the dimension on the inquiry alongside the part number. If a delivery is ambiguous, measure the wing and count the holes: six against nine settles it.
If neither wing suits and what you really need is reach rather than stiffness, you are in the wrong family: a longer-legged bent angle is lighter, cheaper and does that job.
Checking an incoming shipment
Count first, then measure.
1. Count the holes: nine, three in the top and six in the face. The count and the split are the fastest way to separate P2225 from P2224 and from the other fittings on the same catalog page. Do this before anything comes off the pallet.
2. Measure the wing: 3-3/4 in. (95.3 mm). Across the wing, not diagonally. This is the dimension the two parts differ in and the one a supplier working from a photograph is most likely to get close but not right.
3. Measure the body: 3-7/8 in. (98.4 mm). Shared with P2224, so it confirms you are in the right family rather than identifying the part.
4. Check hole spacing on center: 1-7/8 in. (47.6 mm), and the end distance: 13/16 in. (20.6 mm). Measure between two adjacent hole centers inside one row, not across a bend. If the pitch is off, the fitting will bolt to a bare channel and will not line up with punched channel or with other fittings on the series pattern.
5. Caliper the thickness, on a free edge, and compare it with the base-steel thickness on your quotation. Our standard plate is about 0.23 in. (5.8 mm) base steel before coating; a hot-dip galvanized part measures thicker. The catalog reference part is 1/4 in. (6.4 mm). Compare the base-steel thickness on your quotation; measure a galvanized part knowing the coating adds to it. A 3/16 in. (4.8 mm) plate looks the same in a bin — that is the one to reject.

What we can quote against this part number
We do not manufacture these parts and we are not Unistrut. We source them. The item we can quote against Unistrut P2225 is wing shape fitting, 3-3/4 in. wing x 3-7/8 in., 9 holes — a candidate substitute made to order by a contract manufacturer, offered for inquiry, not an original-manufacturer part.

These are the published Unistrut catalog dimensions we build to, each with the page it is printed on. The thickness row is the exception: it states what we supply, not a catalog figure. They are geometry only. No load, torque or listing figure is claimed for our part: none has been tested on it, and a figure published for a Unistrut part is evidence about that part, not about ours.
