P2626 — 2-Hole 90° Angle Fitting, 2-1/8 in. Square

A single steel plate bent once through 90° with equal 2-1/8 in. legs and one 9/16 in. bolt hole in each. Equal legs are what separate it from every other two-hole angle on the same catalog page.

Finish

P2626-EG — electro-galvanized, zinc plating to ASTM B633 Type III SC1. Smooth bright silver. Indoor and dry service. P2626-HG — hot-dip galvanized to ASTM A123 or A153. Visible spangle, heavier edge build-up. Outdoor, wet and coastal service. P2626-PL — plain, uncoated steel. For painting or powder coating after assembly, or dry enclosed runs. Stainless — the catalog offers stainless, aluminum and fiberglass on some part numbers but publishes no standard suffix for them and says to consult the factory. Quote as made-to-order. Powder-coated — powder coating to a customer-specified RAL color. Not a catalog finish, so it carries no catalog code — the color, which parts take it and the film build are confirmed at quotation. We publish no film thickness and no salt-spray figure, because we have not measured one.

Finish list: Unistrut® General Engineering Catalog no. 17, p. 85 — finishes note. Powder coating is our option, not a catalog finish. The catalog also lists GR against this series — not quoted, see Finishes.

Pack: Packed per order. One cap screw and one channel nut per leg, ordered separately.

The rest of the two-hole 90 degree group

P2626 is the only equal-legged member of the group and the heaviest of the short ones. If the description you were given says only “2 in. angle”, P2626 and P1026 are both candidates and they are not the same part.

What bolts through it, and where the published data stops.

Hardware. One 1/2 x 15/16 in. hex head cap screw and one 1/2 in. channel nut per leg — P1010, P4010 or P5510 by channel series. Not supplied with the fitting.

Twist. One bolt per leg, so the joint can rotate about either bolt if the corner is loaded sideways. Equal legs make this fitting a tidy choice for a corner that is doubled — two fittings back to back on opposite faces of the channel present the same geometry either way up, which a handed part does not.

Load rating. The catalog publishes no load figure for P2626, so neither do we. Where the catalog gives design load data for a fitting it states the data is based on the ultimate strength of the connection with a safety factor of 2.5; no such figure appears on p. 94 for this part.

A published cross-reference number is one thing only: a number a cited document prints opposite this one, as a candidate substitute in the same catalog slot. It carries no load rating, steel grade, coating thickness or third-party listing — each manufacturer publishes those separately and they do not travel with a part number. Source documents, access dates and what to measure before you fit a substitute: Unistrut P2626 cross reference.

Source: our cross-reference dataset, built 2026-09-09 from the documents listed below.

What a P2626 actually is

One piece of steel plate, one 90° bend, one bolt hole in each leg, and both legs the same length at 2-1/8 in. It is the square corner of the 1-5/8 in. fitting line. The legs are 1-5/8 in. wide, matching the channel face, so the fitting sits inside the footprint of the run.

Equal legs are not a cosmetic property. A symmetrical angle can be fitted either way round and still present the same hole position to both channels, which removes a whole class of site error on a job with a lot of corners. It also means one part number covers both hands of a detail that would otherwise need two.

Choosing between P2626 and the angles next to it

P2626 is 2-1/8 in. square. P1026 is 2 x 1-7/8 in., P1068 is 1-5/8 x 2-1/4 in., and P1281 through P1283 run 3, 3-1/2 and 4 in. on the long leg against a fixed 1-7/8 in. short one. The practical gap P2626 fills is the one where 2 in. does not quite reach on both sides: an eighth of an inch more on the short leg is often exactly what clears a lip, a weld bead or a bolt head.

A longer leg buys reach, not strength. The bolt lands in the same channel slot whatever the leg length, and the connection is still one bolt per leg. Order the shortest leg that reaches, and where the corner must hold its angle under a sideways push, double it or brace it rather than going up a size.

Checking an incoming shipment

Four checks, and on this part number the first two are the whole job.

1. Measure both legs: 2-1/8 in. (54.0 mm) each. Measure over the corner, from the free end of one leg to the outside face of the other. Equality is the identifying feature of P2626 — if the two legs differ, you have been sent a different part number regardless of what the carton says.

2. Count the holes: two, one in each leg. Every 90° angle on catalog p. 94 has one hole per leg, so a four-hole part is not a substitute from that page at all.

3. Measure hole center to the free end: 13/16 in. (20.6 mm). This decides whether the hole lines up with a channel nut in the slot. It is the series pattern, and a part that misses it will not sit flat on the channel face.

4. Caliper the plate thickness away from the bend and compare it with the base-steel thickness on your quotation. A free edge, not a formed corner. Our standard plate is about 0.23 in. (5.8 mm) base steel before coating; a hot-dip galvanized part measures thicker. The catalog reference part is 1/4 in. (6.4 mm). Compare the base-steel thickness on your quotation; measure a galvanized part knowing the coating adds to it. A 3/16 in. (4.8 mm) plate looks the same in a bin — that is the one to reject.

These are the published Unistrut catalog dimensions we build to, each with the page it is printed on. The thickness row is the exception: it states what we supply, not a catalog figure. They are geometry only. No load, torque or listing figure is claimed for our part: none has been tested on it, and a figure published for a Unistrut part is evidence about that part, not about ours.
